Program Description

German studies pairs the language with the literature, history, philosophy, film and politics of German-speaking societies. Close reading, translation and cultural analysis are typical modes of work, with attention to how a turbulent modern past still shapes public life. Graduates often work in translation, education, international business, diplomacy, media or research.
