Program Description

English literature examines writing in English across periods and forms — poetry, drama, fiction and beyond — asking how language creates meaning and how texts respond to their moment. Close reading, argument and critical theory are central to the work. Graduates often go into publishing, teaching, journalism, law, communications and the cultural sector.
