Program Description

Standard English focuses on the conventions of the standardised form of the language: grammar, vocabulary, register and usage in formal writing and speech. Students examine how these conventions are described and taught, and how they relate to the many varieties people actually speak. Graduates often work in teaching, editing, translation or communications.
