Combining language learning with history, literature, politics and contemporary culture, this field builds deep familiarity with a single society and the ability to discuss it in its own language. Coursework blends translation, close reading and social analysis. Graduates often move into translation, teaching, journalism, diplomacy, cultural institutions or international business.
