Program Description

Bioprocess engineering turns biology into manufacturing: using cells, microbes and enzymes to make medicines, foods, fuels and materials at scale. Students study fermentation and bioreactor design, sterile operation, separation and purification, and the problem of scaling a process up. Graduates often work in pharmaceutical and biotechnology production, food and beverage, and process development.
